Today I will not stress over things I cannot control”. This evening at 18:30 on Instagram Live, I have been invited by my friend Catherine O Keefe AKA the Wellness Warrior @wellnesswarrior.ie to discuss in my capacity as a psychotherapist (and also a woman at this stage of life) how Covid is affecting the midlife woman and the extra anxieties that it brings 🌺

My area of expertise is life stages and what is going on for us a psychological level. Sometimes we can feel stuck or crippled with fear and worries at various transitions in our life. Life stages are transitions we all as humans go through we cannot control these but we can learn how navigate them better, become aware who we are and be more open to possibilities. 
Catherine is an expert in helping women with the physical symptoms of peri menopause and menopause. I have learned so much from Catherine and the experts she invites on every evening. 
I am sharing with you my own fear tonight which is a technical one but is also a psychological one. I worry if the technology will work; will I have good coverage (this was an issue the last time); will I come across well but most importantly will I connect with our audience? So here is the tip that I have to remind myself of often. “Today I will not stress over things I cannot control! Say instead what I do know (I know my stuff as I have studied it for years; I am working in this area; I am prepared as much as I can be, and the audience and Catherine are on my side) so what’s the worst that can happen! If you are having a self-doubt day I invite you to read this affirmation and remind yourself that just like the pandemic we cannot control much in life but we can control how we choose to think and react.

mindfulness When you care about what other people will think and refused to do some work, what you are actually doing is you are sabotaging yourself which means you do not value your own body and mind just because of the perception of others people on you.

If you notice, Most of the people around you are doing it, they value other people's opinions over what their mind is telling them to do, and that's what will lead you to live a life of no interest because you didn't do what your heart said just because no one's was doing it or have done it, and you were afraid that what will other think if you do it.

Don't follow the crowd, listen to your intuition because it knows what you like and what you gonna be successful at, everybody is doing the same thing is like in the  10 rooms of full of opportunities and success, everybody is going in one room which is already full, think it through if you are taking any decisions on the basis of what people think of you, it's your  life and you fucking own it and not the people around you, I hope this helps! 💙

mindfulness EMOTIONAL EATING:🔴
We tend to fall in this emotional eating trend alot, be it any movie or any series whenever a breakup happens girls binge watch their favourite series and gulping down their favourite ice cream and drink down .  That is where the issue is glorified. 
1.I have indulged myself in emotional eating and used to justify it by saying I am stressed out or I got anxiety and used to eat non stop without shame. 
2.How Did I cope up.? I didn't realized I was doing Wrong but when I started looking myself in dresses my confidence went low .. steep low. But then My sister came into the story and forced me to join gym And after joining gym my trainer told me about how dangerous emotional eating is and how wrong I have already done to my health. 
3.I have started doing mindful eating I know when to eat and how to keep myself hydrated . I eat when I am hungry . 
4. Start registering your emotions. Startwriting how exactly you are feeling , stop fooling yourself and just QUIT SUGAR. Sugar is drug that is part of your system now and it works well to bring your happy emotions back in few seconds and rather harming your body more.

That is where the issue is glorified. 1.I have indulged myself in emotional eating and used to justify it by saying I am stressed out or I got anxiety and used to eat non stop without shame. 2.How Did I cope up.? I didn't realized I was doing Wrong but when I started looking myself in dresses my confidence went low .. steep low. But then My sister came into the story and forced me to join gym And after joining gym my trainer told me about how dangerous emotional eating is and how wrong I have already done to my health. 3.I have started doing mindful eating I know when to eat and how to keep myself hydrated . I eat when I am hungry . 4. Start registering your emotions. Startwriting how exactly you are feeling , stop fooling yourself and just QUIT SUGAR. mindfulness Wanneer we in de opleiding het hadden over de juiste vragen dan kwam altijd deze vraag naar voren.

Waarom mag je niet de waarom vraag stellen?

Vragen als ‘waarom’ vermijden we zoveel mogelijk omdat de cliënt daar vaak geen antwoord op heeft.

Vaak worden cliënten ook defensief wanneer ze de ‘waarom’ vraag horen. Die stellen we wel een keer, maar veel later. Dan zal ik ook uitleggen waarom we hem dan wel stellen die vraag, want uiteraard is daar een reden voor.

Ga jezelf maar eens na als je deze vragen moet beantwoorden. Ze gaan over angst en stel je eens voor dat jij angst hebt en ik vraag je:

1. Hoe doe je die angst?
2. Waarom doe je die angst?

Merk je het verschil zelf in vraagstelling? En misschien heb je geen irreële angst, zet dan eens in plaats van het ‘die angst’, ‘dat probleem’ ervoor in de plaats. Merk je dan het verschil?

Bij de ‘hoe-vraag’ kan je vaak wel een antwoord geven al moet je er wel over nadenken. Het is voor een deel ook onbewust. De ‘waarom-vraag’ wordt vaak een stuk lastiger omdat dat helemaal onbewust is. Je hebt vaak geen idee waarom je die dingen doet.

Dat komt omdat dat allemaal onbewust is. Misschien heb je er wel een hele goede reden voor, maar daar heb je waarschijnlijk geen idee van. Heel veel mensen doen dingen om hele goede redenen (voor zichzelf). Er zijn mensen die omwille van aandacht allerlei problemen creëren. Dat is voor hun een goede reden alleen is het niet zo een heel handige strategie.

Die reden zit vaak diep verscholen in ons onbewuste en als er dan naar gevraagd wordt dan weten wij die vaak niet. Op dat moment worden we vaak defensief en dat helpt de therapie niet. Sterker nog het brengt je alleen maar verder van je doel en dat is snelle, effectieve en blijvende verandering creëren bij de cliënt.

Tenminste dat is mijn doel... En daarom vraag ik liever ‘Hoe’ vragen ;-)

I have found a lovely, Buddhist quote that I’m going to put on the back cover though, “if you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your path”. Can’t wait to get this one finished and posted. In today’s episode I’m going to talk about being offended.⠀
⠀
Now, you would have to be living off the grid to not see how offended people in the world are today. With the recent riots, looting and protests in the USA and globally, with political divisions and conflict taking place, alongside the Pandemic we are all learning to adjust to, humanity is struggling on many levels to cope with change and to cope with uncertainty.⠀

And a way of doing this is focusing on what is wrong, what needs to change and an attempt to control what is happening too.⠀

Now with being offended, like most people I get offended, not as easily as I used to. I have come to terms with my character and my personality more, who I am and by doing so, this acceptance naturally means that when people attack, criticise or attempt to make me wrong, it falls off my shoulders more readily. However, there are times when I am more offended than others, but not as much, which is a relief.⠀

Now, the thing about being offended is that we can only be offended by something if we think we are right, and that the other person is wrong.⠀

I can’t believe I have made it to 100 episodes, I would have liked to celebrate it with a special something, but it just seemed to suddenly creep up on me and here I am 100 episodes out in the world. And I want to thank all my listeners old and new for your support.⠀ ⠀ In today’s episode I’m going to talk about being offended.⠀ ⠀ Now, you would have to be living off the grid to not see how offended people in the world are today. With the recent riots, looting and protests in the USA and globally, with political divisions and conflict taking place, alongside the Pandemic we are all learning to adjust to, humanity is struggling on many levels to cope with change and to cope with uncertainty.⠀ ⠀ And a way of doing this is focusing on what is wrong, what needs to change and an attempt to control what is happening too.⠀ ⠀ Now with being offended, like most people I get offended, not as easily as I used to. I have come to terms with my character and my personality more, who I am and by doing so, this acceptance naturally means that when people attack, criticise or attempt to make me wrong, it falls off my shoulders more readily. mindfulness Happy World Bicycle Day! If you’ve been pedalling, try this wonderful stretch which might help with some of those aches, and keep you in the saddle for longer. The Cat-Cow pose has so many great benefits. This gentle warm up yoga pose can be done any time of the day to help relieve back pain, increase flexibility in your spine and bring balance to the body. Take some nice deep breaths as you move into the cat pose: Exhale and draw your belly to your spine and round your back towards the ceiling. Take another deep breath in while moving into cow pose, drop your belly downwards and turn your head and look upwards. Rest in both poses for a few minutes, and thank yourself for doing a stretch today! .

Abbiamo iniziato a parlarne ieri.⠀ ⠀
Li troviamo nelle persone che tendono ad alzare dei muri per non far avvicinare troppo gli altri⠀
E’ possibile che abbiamo imparato troppo presto a cavarsela da soli e a stare in guardia, cosa che li ha resi schivi. ⠀

Si tratta di persone spesso molto intelligenti e sicure di sé, ma che per la necessità di proteggersi sono capaci di chiudersi drasticamente anche nei confronti di chi amano. ⠀
⠀
Per capirli partiamo dal principio che dire di sì sarebbe cedere all’altro. (tra queste ci possiamo trovare anche gli orgogliosi, ma procediamo per gradi)⠀
⠀
⠀
Perché accettare l’altro è così pericoloso?  Beh, tenere a distanza evita di essere rigettati. No? E se ci pensi, puoi trovare queste sfumature in persone che definiresti come “sfuggenti” : si mostrano sempre impegnate, prendono appuntamenti e annullano anche all’ultimo minuto o non si presentano. ⠀
Questo non perché siano superficiali o non curanti (come nel caso dell’orgoglioso, la “non curanza” specialmente delle emozioni/opinioni dell’altro è un altro cocktail più estremo, frutto di un’altra combinazione di ingredienti). ⠀
⠀

Stiamo parlando di persone che hanno difficoltà a mostrarsi vulnerabili. Fanno grande attenzione alle informazioni personali che condividono su di sé e non parlano facilmente di emozioni.⠀
⠀
⠀
Difendono “con i denti” il proprio spazio personale (chi in maniera concitata, chi con un silenzio controllato).⠀
⠀
⠀
⠀
Ma se da un lato tagliano i ponti con facilità, dall’altro non chiedono aiuto nemmeno in caso di necessità, immaginando di essere un peso (“e comunque chi mi aiuterebbe?”). ⠀
Tutti gli sforzi per gli obiettivi che hanno li fanno da soli, cosa che alimenta sentimenti di solitudine, emozioni di insoddisfazione verso se stessi, rabbia o controllo di sé. ⠀
Con i partner possono mostrarsi poco affettuosi o sembrare distaccati. Non hanno molte amicizie profonde. Una motivazione fra tutte è il fatto di associare quasi tutti gli incontri con eventi dolorosi  del passato, immaginando anche involontariamente che chiunque sia “pericoloso” come chi gli ha fatto del male.

I think it's about time for an epic #loveshift that comes with a change of mind #mindshift and THEN THERE WILL BE A CHANGE OF HEART that will keep a foot on the neck of injustice, corrupt politics & systems. Push back! It's all TOO MUCH unless it's discrimination and inequality for white women. Then you're ready to educate, kick ass and take names. Change that. Fix that. Will the real NEW AMERICA stand up? And fight! And i don't mean so much as  violence in a physical manner (you know we justify war & say oh that was THEN to people of color but NEVER forget white people's pain by enlarge). I mean be violent and brutal in the way you CHALLENGE YOUR OWN THOUGHTS ACTIONS FAMILY FRIENDS CO-WORKERS BOSS. And if those that are #lightworker (s) aren't shining light in this darkness, or prior, without first shining light within, it's no wonder those in your care remain complacent, ill, stuck.
